Overview

The State of Sikkim is legendary for its peaceful nature and simplicity. No wonder Sikkim is a bio-diversity hotspot; the state constituites only 0.2percent of the area of India but has 26 percent of its biodiversity species of flora and fauna, wild animals like marmots and the red panda, a wide range of flora from primulas to orchids. More then 580 varieties of orchids, over 600 species of butterflies, 552 species of birds can be found in Sikkim. The pristine unspoilt natural beauty includes alpine landscape, thick luxuriant tropical forest, rivers in torrents and peaceful lakes. Sikkim has a very rugged and formidable topography.

best time to visit

The best time to visit Sikkim is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). Spring offers pleasant weather with blooming flowers, while autumn provides clear skies and stunning views of the Himalayas. Summer (June to August) is good for cool weather but can be rainy, while winter (December to February) is ideal for snow lovers, though it can be quite cold.

Day - 1

New Jalpaiguri Railway Station(NJP)/Bagdogra Airport(IXB) – Gangtok (130 km/4 hrs drive)

Arrival at the NJP/Bagdogra. You will be warmly received by our representative who will then drive you to Gangtok (1437 m). Check in at the hotel. Get refreshed and relax for some time. In the evening, take a leisurely walk on the MG Marg, the main street of Gangtok. Overnight stay at the hotel in Gangtok.

Day 2

Gangtok (Excursion to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir)

Start your day early at around 8 am to visit the beautiful Tsomgo Lake (12,400 ft/3750 m/3 hrs drive) and the famous Baba Harbhajan Mandir( 13,200 ft/4000 m). On the way halt for a quick breakfast. The mountainous route to the Lake is a nice drive. The Lake is perched at a height of 12,400 ft and is endowed with enchanting beauty. It is held sacred by the locals. Come winters and the lake looks angelic as it gets enveloped in snow. As the spring takes its turn, the lake comes back to life with colourful flowers blooming in its surroundings. Baba Harbhajan Mandir or the shrine is a well-known attraction of Sikkim. It was built in reverence of Baba Harbhajan Singh, a brave Indian soldier. He was carrying supplies to a remote place when due to extremely bad weather he lost his life. Post-excursion, our representative will bring you back to Gangtok. Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel in Gangtok. Optional Tour Nathula Pass tour can be done on the same day at an additional cost. Nathula Pass is one of the most famous motorable mountain passes of India. With 14,140 feet altitude, this Pass also served as an important trade route between India and Tibet.

Day 3

Gangtok – Lachung(116 km/6 hrs drive)

Enjoy a fulfilling breakfast, and then head to Lachung, a wonderful hamlet surrounded by snow-capped mountain peaks. It is well known for its apple, peach and apricot orchids, cascading waterfalls and lovely streams. The Lachung Chu river flows through the middle of the village dividing it into two. On the way to Lachung, stop at the Singhik View Point for arresting sights of mount Silnoulchu. The Seven Sister Waterfall is also on the way. Take a lunch break at Namok and later a tea break at Chungthang. Reach Lachung and check in the hotel. Refresh yourself and relax. The evening is at leisure. You can visit the handicraft center to buy souvenirs such as exquisitely woven rugs and blankets and the Lachung Gompa which was built in 1880. You will be served a delicious dinner at the hotel. Have a relaxed stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 4

Lachung – Yumthang Valley (24 km/1 hr drive) – Lachung – Gangtok

Start your journey early morning to capture the unparalleled beauty of the Yumthang Valley (11,800 ft) which is popularly known as the Valley of Flowers. The greenery punctuated with a variety of colourful flowers and trees makes this valley a famous attraction of Sikkim. The valley also boasts of a lovely river and grassy plains where you come across horses, yaks and goats grazing. This is such a picture-perfect view. Take a break for lunch and then come back to Gangtok. On the way back you will come across Twin and Bheema waterfalls. Get back to the hotel in Gangtok and enjoy an overnight stay. Optional Tour Zero Point tour can be done on the same day at an additional cost.

Day 5

Gangtok Sightseeing (Full-day)

After a delicious breakfast, get ready to explore the local attractions of Gangtok. Start with the Ganesh Tok, a temple which is highly revered by the local people for years and is also a perfect place to capture magnificent views of Kangchenjunga, the world’s third highest mountain. Spend some quality time at the lovely Banjhakri waterfall, a famous picnic spot for the locals. A visit to the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology will introduce you to the richness of Tibetan architecture and Buddhist culture. Enjoy some adventure at the Ropeway while you treat your eyes with amazing views of the mountains. Other attractions of Gangtok that will be covered are Do DrulChorten Stupa, Bakthang Waterfalls, Tashi view point, Enchey Monastery, Directorate of Handicraft and Handloom and Flower Show. In the evening our representative will drive you back to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 6

Gangtok – Pelling (120 km/5.5 hrs drive) via Namchi Char Dham and Samdruptse Statue

Post breakfast set out on a journey to Pelling. It is a picturesque town in west Sikkim dotted with pine trees. The journey to Pelling is as exciting as the destination itself. On your journey, you will drive past aromatic tea gardens, beautiful surroundings, and majestic mountains. On the way our representative will take a diversion leading to Namchi, meaning ‘top of the sky’ where you can catch great views of the mountains and the valley. Visit the sacred Namchi Char Dham which is home to 108 feet tall statue of Lord Shiva and replicas of 12 Jyotirlingas. Head to Samdruptse Hill where stands the 118 feet, world’s largest statue of the Buddhist Padmasambhava, the patron saint of Sikkim. This hill is called the wish-fulfilling hill. Continue your journey to Pelling. The fascinating views of Kangchenjunga await you at Pelling. It is also a home to years old monasteries. Reach Pelling and check in at the hotel. Spend the evening at leisure.

Day 7

Pelling Sightseeing

Enjoy a delicious breakfast, and then head out to explore the enchanting world of Pelling. Visit Kanchenjunga waterfalls to get refreshed to the core. The surrounding greenery adds more beauty to it. The other attraction on the list is Sewaro rock garden with fountains, greenery, and serenity. Then head to Darap Valley whose natural beauty will surely win your heart. Breathe in the fresh air and enjoy picturesque views. Halt for lunch and then proceed further to explore Pema Yangtse monastery, Helipad Ground, Rimbi waterfalls, Khecheopalri sacred Lake and Rabdentse Ruins. Drive back to the hotel and stay overnight.

Day 8

Pelling – New Jalpaiguri Railway Station(NJP)/Bagdogra Airport(IXB) (88 km/3 hrs drive)

This day marks the end of your tour! Check out from the hotel and our representative will drive you to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station(NJP)/Bagdogra Airport(IXB) – Gangtok. Go home with lovely souvenirs and sweet memories! Hope to see you on the next tour to another fascinating destination of India
